From Puerto Montt we sailed to Puerto Chacabuco. We stopped in Aisen Fjord to go to Puerto Chacabuco, Chile, population 1,000. Puerto Aisen, population 17,000, was the port, but a volcanic eruption in 1991 closed the channel to ships and the port was moved closer to the opening in Puerto Chacabuco.
