... is the motto of Ray Klinginsmith President, Rotary International, 2010-11.
Rotary Is Magic is the slogan of District Governor, Bill Palmer.
On February 23, 1905, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer, met with three friends to create an organization fostering fellowship between business people. They called this organization "Rotary," because members met in rotation in their various places of business. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Today Rotary International has approximately 1.2 million Rotarians, members of more than 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 160 countries.
I am a past president of the Mahanoy City (PA, USA) club and past club secretary of the Kutztown (PA, USA) club. The website I created for the Kutztown Rotary Club is archived at https://kutztownrotary.org/wp/archive/.
My Scouting began in Portland, Oregon, as a Cub Scout in Mrs. Green's den. After I moved to Pennsylvania, I became active in Scouting again and became an Assistant Scoutmaster. Then, I became a member of the District Committee. In 1990, after retiring from AT&T Bell Labs, I became a professional Scouter in Hawk Mountain Council which has its headquarters in Reading, PA. It serves over 13,000 Scouts in Berks County, Schuylkill County, and part of Carbon County. For directories of many Scouting pages, check out: Other Scouting Web Pages
The International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians (IFSR) is one of more than ninety Rotary Fellowship and Action Groups established to bring together Rotarians with similar interests from around the world.
It is made up of Rotarians who are or were Scouters.
The aim of IFSR is to develop a strong association internationally between Rotarians who are, or have been, active members and/or supporters of the Scout Movement including national organizations that are members of the World Organization of Scout Movements (WOSM) or the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
Membership of IFSR is open to any Rotarian in good standing, Rotary spouse or partner or family member or associate who is presently (or has formerly been) a member and/or supporter of WOSM or WAGGGS organizations.
The IFSR's Cliff Dochterman Award may be awarded by a local Rotary Club or District Governor to an active Rotarian who has rendered exemplary service to Scouting. Information and a nomination form is available HERE as a PDF document
I am a Cliff Dochterman Award recipient, life member of IFSR, and a Co-webmaster of their website: http://scoutingrotarians.org
